How to sponsor?

Sponsoring a driver is easy and a great way to make sure as many kids possible can experience the soap box derby. We have numerous police officers, fire fighters and generous volunteers mentoring and supervising the building of the carts.

Cost to Sponsor? The cost to sponsor a driver is $200.00. The kit includes: 

tie rods and connecting rods steering shaft, guide & plate, cross member and knuckles..wheels, bolts and brackets. Also includes three brake mechanism designs but they require some hinges and/or cables available at your local hardware store or/and old brake tread (not steel belted). Derby entry fee $15.00 and $20.00 Lowes gift card for additional material.

If you decide to sponsor a driver simply email us HERE. You will be sent an online invoice or you can drop by our office at 936 Dr. MLK Jr Way Gastonia 28054 with check or money order.

Businesses that would like to sponsor a driver. We will add vinyl lettering of your business name on the cart. We will list your company on the Meet Our Drivers page. Numerous mentions on Facebook and this website.

How do we pick our drivers? Any child between the ages of 6-15 can be nominated. We will compile a list of names, first come first served. We will take as many drivers as sponsorships allow. More sponsors = more drivers. All nominated drivers MUST have prior parental permission with a waiver signed. We have several gracious mentors volunteering their time to meet with the drivers to construct the carts should this be needed. All nominated drivers must either have the ability to meet with the mentors or have the support to build the cart on their own.  Drivers must be available the day on the race June 22, 2019 to participate in the race. We encourage as many family and friends as possible to come out a cheer on your favorite driver.
